FD101 - Basics
The FD101 course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper technique for shooting. This course will provide a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, range commands, and shooting skills under the supervision of a NRA Certified Instructor.
This is a 4.5 hour course that starts at 5:00pm and ends at 9:30pm on Tuesday August 27th.
This course is approved for membership with the Marion County Fish and Game (indyrange.net)!
Course Goal: To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a gun safely.
Length of Course: 4.5 hours during one evening.
You will learn:
Lesson I: Safety
Lesson II: Knowledge of ammunition used for different types of pistols
Lesson III: Fundamentals and live range shooting
Lesson IV: Review and wrap-up
You will need to bring at a minimum:
Suitable ear and eye protection. (We have some if you are unsure of what you need to buy.)
Closed toe shoes.
Your personal gun with at least 50 rounds of NEW in the box ball or full metal jacket ammunition (NO RELOADS). *Students typically shoot around 25-100 rounds with their personal gun depending on time. If you do not own a gun, you will be provided with a range gun (.22LR) and up to 50 rounds for a $10 fee taken onsite via credit card or cash. Do not rush to buy something just for this course!

We will provide bottled water, soda, and light snacks. If you would like another type of drink or any snacks, please bring them with you.
Dress appropriately for the weather. We will shoot in light to moderate rain or snow. We will not shoot in a downpour or if lightning is present. Weather may play a factor in re-scheduling a portion of class.
We do not take walk-in students. All orders must be made from this website.
